Burns Family Slavery and Civil War Materials
The Samuel T. Burns Slavery and Civil War documents (1839-1864; 1folder) is made up of a membership application for the Daughters of the Republic of Texas for Mrs. Daisy Cowart, a descendant of Samuel T.Burns. The documents also include correspondence materials on the San Jacinto Museum of History Association. There are also several clippings from local newspapers. Bills of sale account for some slave bought by Samuel T. Burns.

This collection newspaper clippings containing the minutes for the first session of the Second Congress of Confederate States.
Confederate War Bond Collection
This collection contains a war bond issued by the Confederate States of America in the amount of one-hundred dollars. The bond was signed in Richmond, Virginia by Register of the Treasury, Robert Tyler. This collection also contains interest coupons and multiple values of currency issued by the Confederate States of America.
Elizabeth Smith McAshan Memoir
The Elizabeth Smith McAshan Memoir (no date; one legal folder) is an unbound 71 page account of the life and times of Elizabeth Smith McAshan. The memoir contains information and perspective on the South at the end of the civil war. There is also a transcription of the memoir that includes brief biographical information on the McAshan family.
Glenn Smith Ephemera Collection
This collection contains materials donated by Glenn Smith. These materials include Smither family correspondence, research completed by May Wynne McFarland on Cincinnati, Texas, and a large WWII battalion photograph, among other ephemera.
